Whitsunday Sailing FAQs

1) How do I check availability?

It's always best to contact our lovely team to check availability first before booking online! You can message us in the live chat, send us an email or call us to speak to one of our Whitsunday experts.

2) What should I bring?

This is completely up to you, however, we recommend bringing a change of clothes, a small bag of toiletries, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, a small amount of cash and a wind jacket for in the evenings!

3) What type of bag should I bring?

Boats only have limited space so large suitcases and bags with wheels will not be permitted onboard. Instead, please pack your belongings in a small, soft overnight bag. Check in with us to check other bag requirements as some boats also require zipless bags. These can be purchased for a few dollars at check-in or are provided free of charge. Alternatively, you are of course welcome to bring your own! A reusable shopping bag works perfectly.

4) Is there luggage storage?

Airlie Beach has plenty of luggage storage options for your larger bags while your away on your Whitsundays tour. these are usually between $5-$10 a day. We usually find it most convenient to store your luggage at the check-in office or at your accommodation.

5) Can I BYO alcohol?

Most Whitsunday boats will allow BYO but it's always best to check in with us first to check the requirements of your specific vessel. Please note that red wine, as well as glass, will not be allowed on board, however! If your boat has a licensed bar, you will not be permitted to BYO.

6) Where do we board our boat and do I need to check in?

All charter boats depart from Abell Point Marina or Port of Airlie. Please see your ticket for check-in instructions. You are required to check in at a sailing office in town prior to departure and will need to call to re-confirm 24-48 hours prior. For overnight boats that depart in the early morning, you will need to check in the day prior to travel by 5PM. For those travelling on a boat that departs in the afternoon, you are able to check in the morning prior to departure before 11 AM.

7) Can I arrive in the area and depart on the same day?

We strongly recommend that you arrive the day prior to your Whitsunday tour in case of unforeseen delays as boats can not wait for late passengers. We also strongly recommend you book travel insurance in case of these unforeseen circumstances.

8) Can children travel on any overnight boat?

Most overnight boats are strictly 18 and over, with some boats more ideal for families allowing for children of different ages. if you are travelling with minors, please contact one of our sales agents to find out the best options for you and your family!

9) What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies are dependent on individual boats. Please contact us to read up on your specific boat and we'll be happy to help! We always recommend that you purchase travel insurance, especially during the wet season just in case of cancellations.
